Welcome, Summer Law Clerks and Interns!

Brick Gentry, P.C. traditionally invites a few select individuals to spend the summer at the firm as law clerks and interns. Our goal is to provide rising stars with valuable professional experience and insight for the future, while our firm benefits from their energy and fresh perspectives.

Brick Gentry shareholder Billy Mallory has chosen Dinel Alic to intern following his second year at Des Moines Area Community College. Dinel will transfer to the University of Iowa in the fall and plans to double major in Economics and Accounting. Following his completion of undergrad, Dinel hopes to attend Drake University Law School.

Thomas Bush arrives to intern at shareholder Paul Drey's invitation. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and will be attending Drake University Law School in his future.  Thomas is interested primarily in the corporate, transactional, commercial, and healthcare areas of law.

Rexford Davidson comes as a law clerk working primarily with Brian Laurenzo and the Intellectual Property Practice Group. Rex graduated from Drake University Law School in December, recently passed the Iowa Bar Exam, has a June wedding planned, and is studying for the Patent Bar Exam.

Joaquin Flores continues as a law clerk working primarily with shareholder Allison Steuterman. Joaquin holds his Bachelor of Arts in Rhetoric with an emphasis in Public Discourse from the University of California, Berkeley, and he currently attends Drake University Law School.

Shareholder Dennis Ogden brings us Rob Howard, who completed his first year of law school at Drake University Law School. Rob was honorably discharged as a third-class petty officer in the U.S. Navy, receiving the National Defense and Global War on Terror service medals. He graduated with honors from Grand View University with a degree in History and worked for more than half a decade handling property casualty claims.

Brian Laurenzo will also be joined by Andrew Morgan, who will graduate in December from Drake University Law School, where he has participated both in Moot Court and the Drake Transactional Legal Clinic. His background is in computer technology, and he will work primarily with our Intellectual Property Practice Group this summer but will also be assisting Brooke Van Vliet. Andrew earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a minor in Infomatics, was awarded the Certificate in Global Security, and was active in the Program in Arms Control, Disarmament, and International Security.

Kitt Tovar joins us as law clerk for Brick Gentry shareholder Matt Brick. Kitt originated from southeastern Wisconsin and will begin her third year at Drake Law School this fall, where she is a Senior Member of the Moot Court Board, and president of the Drake Agricultural and Environmental Law Association. Kitt holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with a minor in Spanish from Iowa State University. Her experience includes service as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Lleida-Department of Animal Production in Catalonia, Spain, as International Trade Intern for the National Pork Producers Council in Washington, D.C., and as Law Clerk to the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation.

Ellen Whitehorn returns to clerk principally for managing partner Paul Drey in the corporate, transactional, and healthcare practice areas. Ellen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Business Marketing from Baylor University and has completed her second year at the University of Iowa College of Law. During her time at Iowa Law, she has participated in Moot Court, served as a writer and editor on the Transnational Law and Contemporary Problems journal, and externed for the Hon. Sara Darrow in the U.S. District Court in the Central District of Illinois.
