The Greater Des Moines Committee honored Brick Gentry shareholder and Registered Patent Attorney Brian Laurenzo during the 2016 Iowa Business Hall of Fame dinner in the Meadows Events and Conference Center.
With this event, Laurenzo's term as Chair of the Greater Des Moines Committee concluded and the gavel passed to Rich Willis. On behalf of the Committee, Willis presented to Laurenzo a rotating solar-powered globe commemorating Brian's term of service as Chair.
Serendipitously, one of Brian's clients, Kyle Krause, President and CEO of Kum & Go, was inducted into the Business Hall of Fame, as was Randy Winegard, CEO of Winegard Company, and his father, the late John R. Winegard.
The event program offered historical perspectives:
- The Greater Des Moines Committee was formed in 1907 with the idea of convening a group of 30 business leaders to act quickly on matters - often times confidential - and underwriting or guaranteeing large sums of money.
- Today the Committee consists of 116 members, including 29 lifetime honorary members, and provides an opportunity for business leaders to come together for an informational exchange about important topics in our community, state and country.
- The Greater Des Moines Committee founded the Iowa Business Hall of Fame in 1975 to honor the achievements of Iowans who have made outstanding contributions to the development and enhancement of Iowa's business climate.
Congratulations, Brian, and thank you for serving our Greater Des Moines community!
